Forex is an abbreviation for foreign currency and exchange. It is also known as FX. \r The foreign exchange market or Forex is the largest and most liquid market in existence, where physical currency (spot) or derivatives (futures and options) are exchanged.
What is Forex for?
The Forex market is originally used to enable foreign trade and business in general. If an American company wants to buy a product from a French company, it must exchange its dollars for euros to make the transaction, and this is done in the Forex market.\r \r This market is also used for speculation and hedging. In this case, futures contracts are used, where the trader has no intention to make the currency exchange, but to obtain a financial gain with the rise or fall of the currency contracts they are trading.
How long does it take to learn Forex?
Whether you become a Forex trader or investor will depend mainly on how much time you are willing to devote to reach an advanced level of knowledge. In a general line, it is possible to learn and apply the basic concepts of risk management and technical analysis more superficially in a period of 18 to 24 months.
However, the learning process must be continuous. In order to reach an advanced level of knowledge aiming at consistent profits, one must study and put the theory into practice for at least 5 years.
